Anchor steel failure check

Anchor steel failure check

I see PROFIS checks anchor steel failure based on EN1992-4 which is different than EN1993-1-8. The result of tension check is not much different but the result of shear check is quite different.
Is there an option within PROFIS to check the steel failure of anchors according to 1993-1-8? or this is not applicable anymore?

Dear Byungyur Lee,

Thank you for asking your question on ASK HILTI!

It is true that PROFIS Engineering checks the steel failure of an anchor based on EN1992-4. The reason for that is that it is determined as a connection to concrete.

EN1993 is a Eurocode for the design of steel structures and EN1993-1-8 is for the design of steel joints. PROFIS Engineering does not support the design of steel joints and, therefore, does not base its steel failure check on EN1993.

We hope this answers your question. If any questions or remarks remain, do not hesitate to contact us again in this thread.

Kind regards,

Team ASK HILTI
